Awarded by the Institute of Tourist Guiding, the Blue Badge is the highest guiding qualification in Britain. The training for Blue Badge Guides is detailed and comprehensive, the examinations rigorous and registration an achievement.
Cumbria Tourist Guides is an organisation of over 40 professional guides operating throughout Cumbria and the Lake District National Park. All their members are qualified Blue Badge Guides. Many of the guides are multi-lingual, and able to guide in a range of languages including French, Spanish, German, Italian and Japanese.
They are here to help visitors get the most from this amazing part of the world. As well as its spectacular landscape, Cumbria has a long and rich history, from the Romans and the Vikings, to the flowering of 18th and 19th century intellect and creativity. The area has provided much artistic inspiration that has come to define English culture, as well as people and ideas that have changed the world.
Among the services offered by the guides are coach & minibus commentaries, town & country walks, mountain walks, special interest or study tours and tour management/itinerary planning.
