The first floor apartment is stylishly decorated in Farrow & Ball colours, and furnished with Laura Ashley sofa's, an Aga wood-burning stove will keep you cosy on chilly evenings. The sunny south-facing sitting room looks out onto our woodland where you can watch red squirrels and the abundant birdlife go about their business. The 2 double bedrooms are at either end of the sitting room, one room has a 6ft bed which can convert into a twin bedded room if you require. The other has an antique French double bed from which you can gaze at the magnificent copper beech in the wood. Wonderful walks can be taken from the door, fishing can be arranged on the River Caldew just down the lane, the Lake District National Park is just a 10-minute drive away giving you access to the delightfully quiet Northern Fells, or the World Heritage site Hadrians Wall is also easily reached in around 20 minutes. So whether you want to explore or just totally relax, our excellent central location means The Apartment has all the ingredients for a special rural retreat away from hustle and bustle.

The bustling village of Dalston with 2 pubs, cafes and shops is a mile away, and you don't need to go far to find a number of good pubs serving food, including the world renowned Old Crown at Hesket Newmarket. The award winning beauty salon, The Loft is at nearby Orton Grange, which also has a swimming pool for private hire as well as a café is well worth a visit. Our aim is to make your stay one you will want to repeat time & time again. Children welcome from any age.

Conveniently located, if you are arriving by car we are just 6 miles from the M6 jct 42. Follow the signs to Dalston. At the Bridgend Pub turn left onto the B5299 and go up the hill away from Dalston, take the first left turn signposted to Rose Castle. Take the first left fork signposted Hawksdale Hall and we are the second building on the left. We are approximately 6 miles from mainline station at Carlisle, 1 mile from the branch line at Dalston, the bus also passes through Dalston. If you are travelling by public transport we do our best to collect you if you so wish.
