jemima
puddle-duck
centenary...
Welcome to the Jemima Puddle-duck Centenary website. 100 years ago Beatrix Potter published a tale about a silly duck who searches the countryside for a place to lay her eggs and narrowly escapes the clutches of the "foxy whiskered gentleman."
Beatrix Potter's house in the Lake District and the countryside around the village of Near Sawrey was the inspiration for The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck and we hope you will come and celebrate this very special birthday with us in the Lake District. There are wonderful attractions, (including The Beatrix Potter Gallery in Hawkshead which will this year display original illustrations from the tale), fantastic events and of course the landscape that Beatrix Potter loved, to enjoy.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JEMIMA!
