• Brae Fell is an imaginative conversion of a large ancient barn which simply oozes character. The ground floor has a spacious dining room for eight, with a fully equipped kitchen alongside. The internal stairs lead directly up to a charming living room with impressive old beams and exposed stone walls. Adjacent to the living room is a second smaller dining area ideal for children's teas or board games. There are two self-contained bedroom suites, one upstairs and one downstairs, each with a private hallway leading to a double room, a twin room and a bathroom.

Upstairs is an expansive living area with wonderful views, exposed natural stonework and a log burning stove in an inglenook fireplace. The cottage has a single bedroom and bathroom off the ground floor hallway. Upstairs is the vast open plan living room with its log burning stove, and a dining area and kitchen, together with the main bedroom plus another single bedroom. All upstairs rooms have lots of oak beams and exposed natural stone walls, and the living room has views for 30 miles across the Eden Valley.

The Laing Barn Details

• Cottage sleeps up to 10
• The Laing Barn, which dates to around 1880, was one of the very first builds by Sebergham man John Laing, founder of the company which went on to build motorways, Coventry Cathedral and the Millenium Dome.
  The L-shape barn comprises Raven Howe and Round Knott cottages. Entrances to the 2 cottages are adjacent, onto the shared patio, there are no internal joining doors. The cottage has a large balcony with access to both living areas and 2 hot tubs one at either end.
  Round Knott has a double and 2 single bedrooms, Raven Howe has a 4-poster double, twin and full-size bunk bedrooms.
  Both have spacious first floor open-plan living areas with exposed beams, natural stonework and log burning stoves. For more details see under Round Knott and Raven Howe.
  We provide an extension to the dining table in Round Knott together with additional crockery/cutlery, enabling 10 people to dine together in comfort.
