great days out...
Friends of the Lake District (FLD) and the Lake District National Park Authority have worked together on the Give the Driver a Break project in 2008. This is a series of leaflets based on the some of the most scenic bus journeys in the country. Do you want to go to Langdale, Borrowdale or Ullswater for example. Then these full colour leaflets give great information about how to enjoy the best bits of the National Park without a car
There are a special set of leaflets covering the 208 Ullswater Connexion and the 517 Kirkstone Rambler, which join at Glenridding. These have great ideas for days out from these services and include lots of discounts you can get - only by showing a ticket from these 2 services.
For example you can get discounts on Windermere Lake Cruises and Ullswater Steamers, reductions on food and drink and reduced entry to attractions in Keswick. The leaflets which have full details of the days out and discounts are:
Ullswater Connexion Aira Force walk: Travel from Keswick on the 208 Ullswater Connexion and have a walk at the Aira Force waterfall.
