The area’s varied history has left a wealth of fascinating places to discover, from enchanting castles and historic homes to impressive Neolithic henges and stone circles.

The splendour of the rolling green Eden Valley stretches towards the rugged pennine hills, with an array of sparkling rivers, wondrous wildlife and grand stately homes along the way.

To the south west is Ullswater, where you can take a lake cruise to take in the surrounding soaring montains such as Helvellyn or simply enjoy a stroll along the lakeshore. This little known part of Cumbria is scattered with hidden gems and amazing market towns such as Penrith, Appleby and Kirkby Stephen.
