It is surrounded by mountains, crags, rivers and waterfalls and is truly an incredible setting for any Lake District holiday. Climb the Old Man of Coniston, take a dip in a crystal-clear pool at the bottom of a gushing waterfall, hike the mountain paths and rugged crags, or simply pick a spot to relax and soak up the atmosphere of this majestic corner of the Lakes. On a break in the incredible Coppermines Valley you’re free to explore this ancient and breath-taking landscape at your own pace.
Coppermines Valley sits above the popular Lake District village of Coniston. Here you will find a selection of friendly pubs, local cafes and independent shops. The village sits on the shores of Coniston Water. For lovers of water sports there’s paddle-boarding, kayaking and wild-swimming on this spectacular stretch of water. You can also hire a boat or take a cruise on the gondola and soak up the majestic mountain views from the shimmering lake.
And with the rest of the beautiful Lake District National Park easily accessible by car or public transport, Coniston is the perfect base for any memorable break in the Lakes.

This cottage is an absolute gem, location, views to the fells, facilities, garden and hot tub were all excellent. We loved our stay so much, we were gutted to leave. We will definitely stay at this cottage again.

We saw rain, rain clouds, more clouds and fog and mist but my word.... Slater Bob's is heavenly. We have been warm and felt safe and this is the most happy cottage. Thank you for sharing your lovely home. Hopefully we'll be back some time for a bit of blue sky, or not - I'm not sure it would matter!

We have never visited the Lakes before and have been looking forward to it for a while. All I can say is wow! The cottage is beautiful, location amazing. The perfect place to unwind and soak up the views (especially in the hot tub after a day's walking). Such a homely, welcoming feel in the cottage, 4 nights was not enough, I think we could stay here forever! Thank you so much. We will be back.

What a tonic after the hustle and bustle of Christmas. The perfect place to unwind - gorgeous cottage, fab location, hot tub with views to die for. Great to have a cook's kitchen too, so much space and so well equipped.

What an amazing stay we have had at Slater Bob's! Such an incredible spot. Coniston, in particular The Coppermines, holds a special place in our hearts and we were beyond excited to bring our baby daughter for the first time. Thank you once again for providing the accommodation for another amazing holiday! Our experience was made with the help of Slater Bob's rustic and homely feel and the hot tub was definitely a bonus. With The Old Man on our doorstep it would have been stupid not to attempt it, so we did. Our leg muscles will thank us eventually! The Lake District in December has been a cold but magical experience to lead us up to Christmas. Looking forward to coming back again next year.

What a gem! We have loved every second of staying here. The cottage is so cosy, well equipped and clean. From stunning views to beautiful walks. The weather has been the best we have ever had in the Lakes which gave us us the opportunity to get plenty of long hikes in, and to return after many miles of hillwalking and jump in the hot tub - just perfect! A week just wasn't long enough, we have fallen in love with Slater Bob's and will most definitely be back. Thank you so much to the Coppermines team and the wonderful cleaners for making this holiday just perfect.

Our second visit to Slater Bob's didn't disappoint. Everything was beautifully prepared when we arrived with everything laid on that we needed, even a smashing new oven. Brilliant scenery, great walks and amazing weather too. Hope it's not our last visit to Slater Bob's. We have had a great week at Slater Bob's! The house is great - you can tell it is a loved house - with lots of useful facilities. Very comfortable beds and excellent water pressure! We really enjoyed the hot tub, although it has at times been too hot weather to enjoy it! The location is perfect - the views from the sun room in the evenings have been idyllic. Our daughter enjoyed paddling in the river and made it up the Old Man. Great base for walking, cycling and kayaking (once you make it down the hill). Thanks for sharing it with us.

We have had a fantastic week in the Lakes which was made even better by our lovely base. Slater Bob's is so well equipped, there is everything you need and more. A real home from home. The enclosed garden is lovely and our children to play out safely. We spotted some lovely birds here whilst resting our tired muscles in the very luxurious hot tub! There is an abundance of walks on the doorstep which was great. The beds are very comfortable and we have all slept well. In every corner of the house there is something of interest to see. Our youngest son says his favourite room is the reading room with great views. Our eldest says the living room is his favourite as it is cosy! We hope to come again as it is perfect for our family.

This cottage is in an excellent location, with a great outlook. The cottage itself is lovely with a very homely feel. The facilities are excellent and we particularly liked the lovely mugs and place mats and well equipped kitchen with good quality sharp knives. Beds are very comfortable again with good quality bed linen. The walking directly from the cottage is excellent.

Great walks from the back door. Great views from the front door. Fabulous cottage, all you need. Love the copper fairy lights! The hot tub is fab for the after walk recovery. We have had the most amazing weather. Walking in a heat wave posed lots of challenges but the cooled water and ice dispenser fridge really helped! The co-op has most things you have forgotten or need. We hope to come back.

What a wonderful cottage - the position is quite incredible! We have had a super week - walked to Swirl How, Old Man, around the lakeshore to Hawkshead and along the footpath towards Elterwater. Can recommend the food, service and beer at the Black Bull Inn. As for the hot tub - there could not be a more perfect end to the day than sitting in it with that awesome view. Thank you!

We now have a favourite cottage/holiday. What a place! We've been to a few Coppermines Cottages and even stayed in the valley before but there's nothing else like this place. Where else can you sit in a hot tub with a view like that?! If you ever sell this place (why would you?!) we'll join the mile long list of people who would take it please! :) (dependant on a lottery win...). Already looking at dates to be back! We've used Coppermines Cottages for a good few years and have always enjoyed their properties, but Slater Bob's is something else. From the welcoming pack to the hot tub, everything we needed was right there. We've already looked to see if we can book Slater Bob's for later in the year and if the car can make it up the bank we'll be back. A long weekend without a drop of rain is really a first for us, our new puppy will think the Lakes are always like this, warm and sunny, I think he's in for a shock on later visits. Slater Bob's is a great cottage in a fantastic mountain location, with proper fell walks literally from the door. We managed to book by pure luck at the last minute! It is extremely well equipped and comfortable and, in a rare heat wave for the Lakes in September, the ice-maker was as welcome as the fantastic hot tub! It was also spotlessly clean throughout on our arrival. Just one thing to be aware of, it's amazing location entails a drive up a rough track. Not a problem in most cars if you drive appropriately, but you wouldn't want to do it in a low profile car.

We arrived on a Friday all the way from Svalbard, Norway to attend the wedding of our friends. We are stunned by the amazing landscape in the area and we wish we had more time to explore the surroundings. The cottage was fabulous, with everything we needed to make our stay comfortable, we really lived the hot tub.

Great cottage, fantastic location and very well-equipped. We were very lucky to have been able to book this cottage. The travel instructions and overall web interaction were spot on and by far the best of any holiday rental cottage company I have used (of which there are many). It's such a great location that cooking and dining there were a real pleasure. We would rate this cottage as excellent and will definitely be returning.
