Get the Kids Engaging with Nature this Easter
Plant a Tree at Barrow-in-Furness on 2 March A wood is being planted as part of Tree for All, the Woodland Trust's campaign to transform landscapes and engage people with nature. The aim is to involve at least one million people, many of them children, in planting 12 million trees, a tree for every child in the UK. Meet some of the Local Wildlife On your travels in Cumbria, there are many local inhabitants to meet, including red deer, red squirrels, otters, herons and buzzards. Wildlife in the region is incredibly varied and abundant: in fact, Cumbria has more wildlife sites of national and international importance than any other county. There are over 40 nature reserves in Cumbria, which include peat bogs, limestone pavements, ancient woodlands and coastal sites.
