Walking the Line at Coniston Tourist Information Centre
A 6 mile walk with a Blue Badge Guide, wandering through the social and industrial history of Coniston. This tour starts in the village taking the route of the old railway as far as the village of Torver, where we have a choice of two pubs for lunch (or bring your own). We return along the shores of Coniston Water, uncovering evidence of the industrial activities that took place here - including iron smelting and charcoal burning. This also offers us the chance to see Coniston Hall and hear the story of the rich and powerful families that once ruled this land.
Prices
£12.50 per adult, £6.25 per child.
Advance booking via Coniston Tourist Information Centre is essential.
