Rag Rug Day - Emma Tennant at Quirky Workshops @ Greystoke Cycle Cafe
The much acclaimed Emma Tennant, author of several of our favourite Rag Rug publications on the history of rug making will be visiting to inspire us yet again into creating some exciting pieces.
Emma Tennant lives in Roxburghshire, Scotland .She is widely held as an authority on the history of Rag Rug making. Emma spends her winters making and designing rag rugs which are made by a group of neighbours and marketed under the name Hermitage Rugs. She spends the summer painting flowers in her studio at the foot of the Cheviots Hills and is a member of the Council of the National Trust.
She will bring along her rugs and exciting materials to inspire you to create your own design. You will be guided through both the 'Hookie' and the 'Proddie' technique of rag rugging to create your own piece of work.
You'll be working on frames of varying sizes and are welcome to bring your own materials if you have a particular colour scheme in mind.
Enjoy the relaxing day learning this local craft. All materials are provided.
Adult £68 including a lovely 2 course lunch, refreshments and home made cakes.
