pioneering services launches a butchers counter...

Tebay Services, on the south as well as the north bound M6 motorway between junctions 38 and 39, have always stood out from the rest: They are run by the family who farms the land on either side of the motorway, and are the only family run motorway services in the UK. They also have farm shops at both locations, opened in 2003, and selling some of the widest range of Cumbrian food in the county.
The Dunning family, who own the services, have now opened butcher's counters at both locations. Chief Executive Sarah Dunning says: "For us it is vital that we can manage our meat from the farm to fork. Not only does this benefit the environment through reduced food miles, it also means we have maximum traceability as we know precisely where our meat has come from, down to the exact animal."
The Tebay Services have won national recognition, and having very recently visited the south bound services restaurant, we can confirm that it is with good reason. Would it that you could get this kind of food in most restaurants, let alone a motorway service station.
