Steam into Central Lakeland on the Original 'Park and Ride'!
Since 1869 this unique train/boat connection has provided the most spectacular of gateways to the Lake District. Why not come and enjoy the historic experience today?
Journeying in nostalgic 1950's carriages hauled by one of our fleet of passionately restored and maintained steam locomotives. Enjoy the 3.5 mile journey on this former Furness Railway branch line to the foot of Windermere, then onwards to Bowness or Ambleside on one of Windermere Lake Cruises elegant steamers.
At Haverthwaite we have a well-stocked engine shed, where our own engineers work tirelessly and proudly alongside a team of dedicated volunteers to restore and maintain our rolling stock, tours can be arranged with prior notice.
Our licenced Platform Restaurant offers generous portions of home cooked food, for breakfast and lunch, along with huge fruit scones freshly baked throughout the day.
We also have a private, quiet conference room providing a different setting for your company or group meetings, catering is available if required.
A dynamic woodland play area for younger visitors along with track side picnic areas, completes our attractions and amenities.
