Sizergh Castle and Garden
Contains some of the finest Elizabethan carved overmantels in the country, 14thC pele tower with original fireplaces, floors and windows. The 15thC great hall and other later additions contain English and French furniture, silver, china and Jacobite relics. Set in wonderful grounds with walks around the estate, this has been lived in by the Strickland family for over 760 years. Dogs accepted on public footpaths only.

Five miles from the M6 exit 36, follow A590 towards Kendal then take A590 for Barrow-in-Furness and follow brown signs. From Lake District take A591 south then A590 towards Barrow-in- Furness
Nearest station : 3 miles (4.8 kms) from Oxenholme station
Ground floor of the castle, shop and most of the garden are accessible with a wheelchair. Mainly gravel paths. Recommended route path in the garden. Wheelchair and powered mobility vehicle available. Braille guide and handling items available. Picnic area in the car park. Children's quiz sheets. Sorry no backpacks or baby carriers in the castle. Groups and coaches accepted with advanced booking.
