Rag Rug Day - Heather Ritchie at Quirky Workshops @ Greystoke Cycle Cafe
We are very fortunate to have different inspiring Rag Rag tutors visiting us during 2011.
The well known Heather Ritchie will be holding 2 inspiring single day workshops at Greystoke during mid August - one on rugs and one on flowers.
Heather Ritchie is one of Britain's most experienced rug makers and teachers of rug-making. When Heather moved into a house in North Yorkshire with cold flagstone floors, a neighbour showed her how to make a rug using hessian sacking and old lisle stockings.
Heather was immediately inspired by the idea and, over the last 25 years has developed and refined rag rug making skills to the highest standard. She now travels widely running workshops and is internationally recognised for her skills: some of her most complex work has been described as 'painting with fabric'
Don't forget...The world acclaimed Woolfest celebration of All things Woolen and Crafty takes place at Cockermouth in the northern Lakes every June and people visit from all corner of the country and globe.
Tutors will bring along their rugs and exciting materials to inspire you to create your own design. You will be guided through both the 'Hookie' and the 'Proddie' technique of rag rugging to create your own piece of work.
You'lll be working on frames of varying sizes and are welcome to bring your own materials if you have a particular colour scheme in mind.
Enjoy the relaxing day learning this local craft. All materials are provided.
Prices
Adult £68, including a lovely 2 course lunch. Refreshments and home made cakes.
