We are a small, professional, family-run equestrian centre unique in the use of our magnificent Clydesdale, Shire and Ardennes heavy horse breeds, for riding.
Suitable for riders of varying ability, with steadier rides and mounts for the nervous novice and forward going fluent Clydesdale, Shire and Ardennes horses for those wishing to experience the thrill of riding a real horse!
We offer, horse riding, horse riding holidays, hands on holiday experience, carriage driving instruction, riding lessons and tuition, all in the magnificent Lake District, Cumbria. We also offer farm rides, fell rides, beach rides, trail rides.

From M6 jct 36. We are on average around 50 minutes driving time from this junction. Follow the dual carriageway for around 4 miles, take the A590 a left-hand turn and follow the A590 signed Barrow, Ulverston until you see signs for A5092 to Millom , Workington at Greenodd, a right turn across a stretch of dual carriageway. Follow the A5092 for approximately 10 miles which, without turning off turns into the A595 heading past Broughton and Millom. Go past the first turn for Millom, do not turn to Millom and we are 1 mile left further down the road approximately 100 yards after the turn for Brockwood Hall.
From north and west, travelling from the north along the coast, the A595 pass Bootle 7 km further turn to the left, follow the A595 signed Kendal, we are 4 miles on the right from that left hand turn, close to Silecroft. You'll pass a farm Beckside, then a row of cottages on the left, around a bend in the road and you'll see our green sign ahead. If you get to the Brockwood turn you have gone too far. From the south, Millom, follow the A5093 out of Millom until, just past Silecroft, you'll see the right turn A595 signed Kendal.from that point follow as above.

Cumbrian Heavy Horses is a new and exciting equine facility for the English Lake District and Cumbria, formerly operating on the Isle of Skye we moved to the Lakes a year ago and are pleased to to be able to cater for the many visitors to the Lake District who share our love and passion for horses and the beautiful area we live in.
