camping, on the move...
If you want to be free to explore and stay at a range of sites then touring is a great way to discover everything this beautiful corner of England has to offer. Cumbria is a landscape of contrasts and travelling around by motorhome, touring caravan or campervan will allow you to appreciate the different types of scenery. What's more, staying in more than one place means you can see all the sights or pursue your own special interests, with limitless opportunities for fun, excitement and adventure.
Cumbria has a good network of motorway and main roads and some of the most scenic routes in the country. In fact, the A591 between Windermere and Keswick was voted Britain's Favourite Road. But there is plenty of spectacular scenery to be found all over the county, with a view round almost every corner.
Touring in the region is generally trouble free, though, as always, you should take care to choose a suitable route. Remember that a satnav is not an infallible replacement for common sense and a road atlas - postcodes can cover large areas in the country and you could find yourself on the wrong side of a valley a river. Before you set off check if your chosen campsite suggests a particular route for large vehicles, and stick to it.
