camping, dogs welcome...
If you're coming camping, you don't want your furry friend to miss out on all the fun. Many of the campsites in Cumbria will allow you to bring your dog, though most will ask you to keep it on a lead on site. At Gill Head Farm pets are made very welcome and there are special dog walking areas set aside for your canine pal. Skelwith Fold Caravan Park has dog walks, and a dog wash, while at Wild Rose Park, Appleby, there is an exercise area where your pet can run off steam off lead.
Camping is an out of-doors-experience and perfect for sharing with a four-legged companion. Across Cumbria, there are miles and miles of paths and countryside to enjoy with your dog, as long as you keep it in sight and under close control. And at lunchtime or at the end of the day, when you need to refuel and wet your whistle, there are plenty of country pubs where you can go together. Many places will have water bowls, but it is worth carrying your own bowl and water, just in case - fold-away bowls are convenient and pack down small enough to fit into your jacket pocket.
