roadside crags.
Maybe you're a mid-grade crag rat? Tick the classics on Dow Crag, Gimmer or Esk Buttress.
Or perhaps you're pushing the upper grades? Lakeland rock has proved a forcing-ground
of climbing standards for each generation and steep, modern test-pieces abound.
Not quite a crag rat yet? Many see scrambling as adventure in its purest form - an interesting activity that's not really climbing yet involves the use of hands on rock. For ambitious walkers, scrambling can prove an exciting step onwards adding spice and interest to a big day out.
