Jennings
Jennings Brewery was originally established as a true family concern back in 1828, in the village of Lorton. The company moved to its current location in 1874, in the historic market town of Cockermouth. The brewery is located in the shadow of Cockermouth Castle, at the point where the rivers Cocker and Derwent merge.
Pure Lakeland water is still used for brewing, drawn from the brewery's own well and only the finest natural ingredients are added - English pale ale malt, Goldings hops from Kent and Fuggles hops from Herefordshire.
About our Award Winning Beers:
Cumberland Ale - Bronze award winner at the International Beer Challenge Awards in 2010. 2009 saw this beer win a Silver Medal at the International Beer Award. Jennings flagship beer; Cumberland Ale is synonymous with the Lake District. A carefully balanced hop character combined with residual flavours from the malt, gives this beer its refreshing taste and unique characteristics.
Jennings Bitter - another award winner taking the title of Champion Beer of the North West for 2009. Slightly darker than one would expect, for a bitter with fullness of flavour. It is well balanced and satisfying with character which belies its 3.5%ABV.
Sneck Lifter - this beer won a bronze award at the International Beer Challenge awards in 2010 and piped Cumberland Ale at the post taking Gold Medal in the 2009 International Beer Award - Easy to drink but beware at 5.1%ABV.
Cocker Hoop - A refreshingly light golden ale, full of flavour with a fresh citrus finish. A great drink for those hot summer days.
