    “Quite disappointed I'm afraid.”

I booked a night at the Beech Hill as a Birthday treat for my partner.
We were booked in by the Head Receptionist who seemed very 'automated' and lacked enthusiasm. She also told a couple of staff members to stop hanging around reception (in front of us).
Once checked into the room we were very impressed with the view of the lake. The bathroom was very nice, clean and modern. The bedroom was rather shabby. The carpet could do with a clean and the furniture (especially the side table in front of the window) was very worn and could with being either painted or replaced (or even covered with a table cloth).
We decided to go swimming on the Monday we arrived. There was no lockers (as stated in the hotel booklet in the room) and the changing facilities were awful. The shower in the ladies was hanging off the wall with mould all around it. I have photographs of this so if you wish to see them let me know. There isn't even so much as a hook to hang your clothes on! When I went back down to the changing rooms an hour later to take the photo's, new towels had been put out by a member of staff but unfortunately they can't of checked the changing facilities so it was left the same for the next customer. I think an hourly check sheet would be beneficial in your changing facilities.
We planned to go for dinner in the hotel restaurant but when we read the hotel booklet in the room it specifically said 'no denim' and 'no trainers'. As a young couple in our early 30's I'm sure you can appreciate we didn't have cocktail suits with us to explore the Lake District! Thus we had to go into Bowness by taxi for a meal.
All in all I was very disappointed as I believe the tariff per night is not justified.
Thank you for your time and hope this helps.
