Located in the heart of the Lake District, nestled between Ambleside, Hawkshead and Coniston and only minutes away by car from Ambleside, Windermere and Bowness.
High Grassings Country House stands in an elevated position set in 15 acres of wooded fell side with breath taking mountain views. Our extensive grounds are inhabited by a variety of wild life including red deer, roe deer, red squirrel and a multitude of songbirds. We also have have ponds and streams, which makes this one of the most tranquil settings in the Lake District but also within close proximity to Ambleside, Windermere, Bowness and Kendal for those who want to shop, take in the touristic attractions and perhaps enjoy the nightlife.

We are within walking distance to Hawkshead Village where there are plenty of shops and eateries. Also easy walking distance to the popular local Inn, Drunken Duck which offers a fine restaurant. Tarn Hows (once owned by Beatrix Potter) walk around the lake and take in the amazing views of the surronding mountains Old Man of Coniston, Langdale Pikes and Fairfield to name a few is also on the doorstep and within walking distance. There are plenty of other walks you can do from the house so you don't have to use the car. On your return relax in the guest lounge

Leave the M6 at jct 36, South Lakes turn off, take the A590/A591 by passing Kendal and Windermere, towards Ambleside

From Ambleside, take the A593 towards Coniston at Clappersgate; turn left onto the B5286 signposted Hawkshead 4 miles, follow this road for approximately 1 mile.
After approximately 1 mile take right and take the next road off to the right signposted Coniston and Tarn Howes. Proceed past the Drunken Duck Inn, and we are approximately 1 mile further, on the right hand side.

From Hawkshead, take the B5286 Ambleside Road. After 1 mile turn left at the Outgate Inn. At the junction opposite the Drunken Duck Inn, turn hard left onto the Tarn Hows Road, we are approximately 1 mile further on the right.
