White Moss House, which dates from 1730, was bought by William Wordsworth for his son, Willie, and the Wordsworth family lived at White Moss House until the 1930's. Wordsworth's other homes, Dove Cottage, Grasmere and Rydal Mount, are less than 1 mile away, making White Moss House the perfect central location for exploring Wordsworth's Lake District, on foot, by car or by bus.
The 5 bedrooms are all fully furnished with a mixture of antiques and modern facilities, including flat-screen digital TV and radio, CD and DVD player, luxury towels, award-winning Pure Lakes toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, books and magazines.
The White Moss breakfast has its own special award, and no wonder, as it features the very best local produce, including Pinks' bacon, Cartmel Cumberland sausages and kippers, our famous coddled eggs, freshly squeezed orange juice and White Moss home-made marmalade. With 38 years in the Good Food Guide, we know what makes a great breakfast.
Walk in all directions straight from the door. Easy walks aqround Rydal Water and Grasmere, or tougher walks up Loughrigg and Fairfield all start at White Moss and we will give you maps, directions and any help you need to plan your days. We can make you a packed lunch to take with you.
We have a large free car park, free fishing and free use of a local leisure club. There is a convenient bus stop at White Moss.
The spacious Wordsworth lounge has lots of comfy sofas, piles of books,a baby grand piano, maps and games. The log fre crackles on cooler days.
