Details

Forest How is a large Victorian House, dating back to the 1870’s, set in peaceful seclusion amidst five and a half acres of natural fellside and gardens at the foot of Muncaster Fell. All rooms enjoy spectacular views across fields to the village of Eskdale Green and to the fells beyond.
If you are looking for Bed and Breakfast in the Eskdale Valley, Forest How will not disappoint you! Our emphasis is on providing comfortable accommodation and a hearty breakfast in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Guests are welcome to explore the gardens and orchard or, if you prefer, you can just sit quietly and watch the abundant birdlife.
Frequent visitors to the gardens and surrounding fields include roe deer and red squirrels and you may spot a barn owl at dusk, circling the field for food.
For outdoor enthusiasts the area is a haven for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers. Nearby are some of the highest peaks in the Lake District with Wasdale only a few miles away and the steep Hardnott pass leading to Langdale. For a more leisurely day out, take the miniature steam train to the coast at Ravenglass or further up the valley to the little village of Boot. We are conveniently situated at the end of the lane that crosses the railway at Irton Road Station.
There is a choice of local pubs in the valley offering real ales, bar snacks and restaurants. Two are within walking distance of the house with the others a short distance by car.
