Howe Keld has just been awarded a Gold Award by the hotel inspector. It has been completely refurbished to offer spacious and modern B&B accommodation, making use of local materials to create delightful rooms with a natural ambience. There are 2000 pocket sprung mattresses with cashmere and wool filling, 300 count Egyptian cotton sheets, Farrow and Ball paint colours, showers and baths being supplied by a newly installed constant pressure system, hardwood floors and Herdwick carpets and locally supplied soft furnishings all combine to provide a special experience. And all of this in a great location on the lakeside of the town centre.

Directions

see location on Google mapssee location on Google maps.     Map reference: NY 265232 Lat: 54.59898  Long: -3.13856

From M6 jct 40 follow the A66 to Keswick, about 19 miles. Ignore the first slip road exit to Keswick on the left. Instead about a mile further along the A66 beyond the flyover take the first exit to Keswick from the large roundabout. After about 0.5 mile at the end of Crosthwaite road turn left at the T junction. After another 600 yds turn right at the only mini roundabout in Keswick. This is the road leading south from Keswick towards Borrowdale. You will pass Booths supermarket to your right on the bend, about 50 yds from the mini roundabout and after approximately 600 yards the main Keswick car park will be found on your left. You will see Howe Keld on the corner of The Heads on your right. Howe Keld is approx 4 minutes walk from the bus station.

From Kendal, Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere follow the A591 through to Keswick. Drop down the hill into the town and you will pass a BP petrol station on your left. Continue along the road with the river Greta on your right. The road will rise a little as you approach the town shops. At the top of the hill there will be a set of pedestrian traffic lights. Go through these with the Keswick Park Hotel on your right and you will soon have the Bell St car park on your left. Continue along the main road first to the left and then to the right. You will pass the police station on the left and the post office on the corner by the next set of pedestrian traffic lights. About 50 yds past these lights you will come to the only mini roundabout in Keswick. Turn left and follow the final few directions as above from M6 and Penrith.
