Details

A refurbished Victorian school house built in 1866. Now offers 3 en suite rooms some with baths, queen and king-sized beds and furnished to a high standard. We serve a hearty and extensive breakfast menu, with homemade bread and home-grown tomatoes in season. We are also a licensed premises and dinner is at 19.30, serving a 1, 2, or 3- course meal as desired.

There is also a beautiful garden with mature trees, flower beds, ornamental pond, and terrace where you can take breakfast or dine outside on a sunny day, or just laze the day away sitting in the garden. There are many stone seats, benches, to choose from.
The Old School is situated in Newbiggin west of Penrith 0.75miles off the A66, and 2.5miles from M6 jct 40.

We are ideally placed for a stopover to and from Scotland, or for a longer visit to explore the Cumbrian countryside. UIIswater is just 4 miles away, with the hills beyond, Helvellyn, Place Fell, St. Sunday Crag, and Blencathra and Saddleback to name but a few.

Golf courses are in Penrith and Keswick. The leisure club is at the North Lakes Hotel. Fishing is available on Ullswater which is only 4 miles away. Fridge in room. Bathrobes supplied.

From Junction 40 from the south, bear left on the dual carriageway the A66 towards Keswick. At next roundabout, keep straight on 0.5 mile along the road turn right crossing the other carriageway to Newbiggin. We are situated on the right 0.75 mile along the road.
