camping barns...

If you enjoy camping, or like the idea of camping but need a solid roof over your head then a camping barn may be the answer.

Camping barns are generally old stone farm buildings, sometimes referred to as ‘stone tents'. There are over a dozen barns in the area, sleeping from 8 - 18 people. You can either buy a bed space from £6 per night or hire the whole barn. They are a great type of accommodation to stay in especially if you are part of a group.

Facilities differ between barns but all have cold running water, flushing toilet, sleeping area, somewhere to prepare and eat food and parking. Some of the barns in Cumbria have log fires, hot water, showers and cooking facilities. Generally sleeping areas are communal and some barns provide mattresses - but don't forget your sleeping bag!   see a list of the barns
