The terrain on this part of the route is a limestone plateau and points of interest are found in the primitive and prehistoric settlements evidenced by stone circles and earthworks of old settlements. This part of the route also offers splendid views including Mallerstang Edge, Wild Boar Fell and the Howgill Fells before reaching the small village of Kirkby Stephen.
