Details

We are a museum of Mining and quarrying heritage of Cumbria. We have Underground guided tours which last approximately 45 minutes (minimum age 5 and pre booking advisable during school holidays). Narrow gauge industrial railway running most days using our steam engine during school holidays and a diesel locomotive at other times . Largest collection of cable excavators in Europe with over 70 on site including oldest surviving steam excavator which is in working order. There are Vintage Excavator Trust working weekends in May and September. For more information please check our website.
