Honister Rambler (77 or 77A) at Honister Rambler (77/77A)
There are rare and varied treats for you as you travel along the edge of Derwentwater's lake shore from Portinscale on the Honister Rambler. Enter the beautiful Borrowdale valley before enjoying the drama of the Honister Pass with its last working slate mine in England. Hop off to explore its caverns deep underground. Continue through the most magical scenery down to Buttermere, with its pubs, teashop and lakeside walks or enjoy a steep climb to the Lake District's highest waterfall, Scale Force. England's only mountain forest awaits you on the next stage of your journey - the beautiful Whinlatter Pass. Stop for a gentle stroll through the forest followed by refreshments at the Visitor Centre and a glimpse of nesting ospreys via a webcam providing daily updates before descending through the forest back to Keswick. Use this bus to start the ascent of Catbells or to take a trip on the lake from Nichol End at Portinscale.
