Originally built at the turn of the century by a local farmer for his daughter this small, friendly country house is peacefully situated off a private lane in the village of Portinscale. Bedrooms are well equipped and include 1 ground floor room, convenient for guests unable to climb stairs. Public rooms are especially comfortable and include a spacious dining room, a bar and a comfortable guests lounge. Four-course evening meals, freshly prepared by the chef/proprietor are an essential feature of the hotel, vegetarian meals can be arranged in advance. There is a large secluded car park.

From Penrith, by-passing Keswick on the main A66 Cockermouth road, turn left at the Portinscale sign. Proceed up the road passing the Farmers Inn on the left and turn down the second lane on the right. This lane is signposted 'Footpath to Ullock and Swinside', Rickerby Grange is on the right-hand side.
