Cumbria's finest!

Cumbria's finest!

A fascinating two day course suitable for all levels of ability, with leading UK tree scientist and tutor, Matt Parrott offering tips and techniques for recognising many types of broadleaved trees and conifers around the Lake District,

The UK is home to over 30 native trees and shrubs, and a host of imported exotics - many of which can be found in Cumbria. Over the course of two days we'll make use of woodland and tree collections to introduce the skills needed to identify the most commonly encountered species, and perhaps a few of the more unusual ones.

We'll look at both broadleaves and conifers- dedicating one day to each- and introducing you to key features such as leaf types, flowers, cones and bark which can all be used to determine the species. We'll start each day with a classroom session, getting to grips with the terminology used in guide books and keys via a range of specimens, then head outdoors to put our new skills into practice.

Cost £95 per person for the 2-day course.

Booking is required. Call 01539 816300 or to reserve a place.
