A new exhibition in Carlisle - 'Walking the Line' - features the sequential illustration of internationally acclaimed comic strip artist, Oliver East, alongside the comic art work of BA Illustration degree staff and students at the Institute of Arts at the University of Cumbria - who have been inspired by Oliver's art and its methodology.
This exhibition has been curated in collaboration with the Lakes International Comic Art Festival (LICAF). Come to Carlisle to see the exhibition (running until mid November) after enjoying this year's festival in Kendal! The show is in the new Vallum Ditch Gallery in Carlisle located at the Brampton Road campus and open to the public Monday-Friday 10:00-16:00.
We are delighted to showcase some of the original artwork that Oliver made for his recent project 'The Homesick Truant's Cumbrian Yarn' (2014). This body of work originated from a specific journey - Oliver walked over 140 miles in 10 stages, from Arnside train station in the South of the county to Carlisle train station in the North, keeping as close as possible throughout his travels to the 30 or so stations that form the Cumbrian Coastal Train Line.
