Route Details

1. Turn carefully R out of the car park and head down to the Windermere car ferry. On the other side follow the road past Ferry House tot he first turning on the the right. Make the turn and join the the lane,(cycle sign Ambleside), that follows the the western shore of Windermere. This lane and the subsequent cycle track should then be followed North all the way to the road at the entrance to Wray Castle.

2. Carefully turn Left and follow to a junction at High Wray, continue straight ahead in the direction of Hawkshead. After 1.7Km turn right onto Loanthwaite Lane to a junction with the B5286. Carefully turn Left onto the B5286 and follow it to Hawkshead. On approaching Hawkshead as the B5286 goes sharp left, go straight ahead in to the main street, through the village centre, straight aheadat the first junction to a second give way junction. Carefully go straight on and follow the road south beside Esthwaite Water to a fork after 2.1 Km.

3. Take the left branch and follow it to another fork, take the Left branch again and follow the lane to Near Sawrey. Turn right and carefully follow the B5285 through the village and head East all the way down to the Windermere Ferry. ( Beatrix Potters house, Hill Top is on the right in Near Sawrey after joining the B5285)

4 After catching the ferry over to Ferry Nab follow the road on the other side for 250m to the car park on the Left and finish
